Acupuncture in Victoria

Aria Health and Wellness Clinic offers acupuncture, a practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves the insertion of very fine, single-use sterile needles at specific points on the body. These points are selected to engage the nervous system and are commonly used in relation to a wide range of physical and functional concerns.

Many people are surprised to find that acupuncture is often more comfortable than they expected. Experiences can vary from person to person, and treatment is always adjusted with patient comfort in mind.

Sessions are tailored to the individual and typically last about an hour, with needles remaining in place for approximately 15 to 30 minutes. Throughout treatment, your comfort is monitored, and any sensations can be adjusted as needed.

Paige Hutchison, Registered Acupuncturist, focuses on creating a calm and professional environment where patients can feel at ease. She is known for her gentle approach and clear communication, helping individuals feel informed and comfortable throughout their care.

A Whole-Body Approach

Acupuncture is commonly sought for concerns related to pain, tension, mobility, stress, sleep, digestion, hormonal health, and overall well-being. Treatment approaches are individualised and may consider multiple aspects of health depending on the person’s presentation, concerns, and goals for care.

Common reasons people seek acupuncture include:

  • Musculoskeletal discomfort (neck, back, shoulders, TMJ)
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Women’s health concerns such as menstrual discomfort, fertility and IVF support, pregnancy-related concerns, birth preparation, postpartum support, and menopause-related symptoms
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Digestive concerns
  • General tension, recovery, and overall wellness support

Treatment Techniques

Treatment points are not always located near the area of discomfort. In some cases, points in other areas of the body may be used as part of the treatment approach. This can be helpful when an area is sensitive or when addressing broader patterns within the body.

Paige’s approach incorporates both Traditional Chinese Medicine principles and a modern understanding of anatomy and physiology. Care is individualised based on each person’s presentation, goals, and comfort level.

Complementary Therapies

Additional therapies may be incorporated into care or booked on their own, depending on patient preference:

Cupping Therapy

Available as silicone or fire cupping, this therapy uses suction to lift and decompress soft tissue. Many patients describe the sensation as relaxing. Cupping may be combined with acupuncture or booked as a standalone session.

Gua Sha

A smooth-edged tool is used along the skin to encourage circulation and ease areas of tension.

Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage)

A hands-on therapy used to address muscle tension, mobility, and areas of discomfort using a variety of massage and manual therapy techniques.

All techniques are discussed in advance, and consent is obtained prior to treatment.

What to Expect

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, though accommodations can be made depending on the treatment area. Linens and draping are provided as needed. All needles used are sterile and single-use.

Many people find treatment relaxing, though experiences can vary from person to person.

Integrative Care

Within a multidisciplinary setting, acupuncture may be used alongside services such as chiropractic care, massage therapy, and kinesiology. This collaborative environment allows for a coordinated approach based on individual needs and goals.
