Kinesiology at Aria Health and Wellness

What Is It?Physical therapy knee

At its core, kinesiology is designed to focus on movement in our environment, and can be a wonderful modality for patients who need to rehab an injury in order to correctly move again. Kinesiology often goes hand in hand with chiropractic care.

Imagine this—you’re in an accident that leaves you with shoulder pain. This shoulder pain has stopped you from being able to do your laundry. Our kinesiologist will begin with an assessment of your injury and create an active rehabilitation program specific to you. You will then work through a variety of therapeutic exercises and movement patterns to restore proper joint function, range of motion and strength. Each session is done one on one for an hour with your therapist.

Our active rehab sessions with a kinesiologist are fully covered by ICBC and we will direct bill for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I’m a candidate?

We’ll let you know during your first appointment after we analyze your health assessment and test results. We’ll devise a care plan that may inclue kinesiology in addition to soft tissue work and chiropractic care. At the end of the day, it’s our goal to do whatever we can to get you back to full function.

How long does a session last?

Typically, a kinesiology session lasts one hour. We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing as you’ll likely break a sweat and will be moving.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the extent of your injury. When we see you for your new patient visit, we’ll get a better idea of how long you can expect to spend in our care. Ultimately, the choice is entirely up to you and what works for your schedule.
