Meet Dr. Matthew (Mat) Bryan

Victoria chiropractor Dr. Matthew Bryan

A Strong Foundation in Sports and Leadership

Before his chiropractic studies, Dr. Matthew Bryan attended McPherson College in Kansas, USA, on a baseball scholarship, where he was named team captain in both 2015 and 2016. McPherson competes in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (NAIA), one of the top conferences in the country. During summers at home, he also played outfield for the Victoria Harbourcats in the WCL, representing his hometown on the field.

The Path to Chiropractic

Dr. Bryan graduated cum laude from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia in 2020. Upon acceptance, he was awarded the prestigious Vice-Chancellor International Scholarship, given to the top 1% of incoming international students. Recognized by both peers and professors, he received the award for Top Clinical Technique Graduate, honoring his proficiency and skill in chiropractic technique.

While in Australia, Dr. Bryan was selected to serve as one of the team chiropractors for the Central Coast Mariners, a professional soccer team, and earned his Diploma of Football Medicine from FIFA. He also supported the Avoca Beach Sharks, an elite Rugby Union club, as part of their medical team.

Though he enjoys working with athletes, Dr. Bryan’s experience extends beyond sports. He’s worked in a family-focused clinic that welcomed children, mothers-to-be, and patients of all ages. During that time, he trained under one of the top low-force chiropractic practitioners in Australia.

“My chiropractic journey began when I was in university and had a significant arm injury. I received treatment from several different healthcare providers, but the same pain kept returning. It was by chance that a close friend recommended their chiropractor, and they noticed that the arm pain was not related to my arm, but instead my spine.”

Within weeks, Dr. Bryan was back on the field, playing without any pain. After his playing career, he was inspired to help others in the same way chiropractic had helped him.

Giving Back and Staying Active

Dr. Bryan’s love of travel and service has taken him to more than 23 countries. One of his most meaningful experiences was volunteering at and donating to a school in Nairobi, Kenya, which left him with a deep appreciation for life and the impact of community. A strong believer in the role of nutrition and movement in health, he loves everything BC’s natural beauty has to offer.

Having grown up in British Columbia’s capital, Dr. Bryan is delighted to return home to serve the community that has supported him throughout his life. Now, he’s dedicated to helping others live healthier, more active lives—starting with the spine.

I’m fascinated by what our bodies can do when operating at our full potential. Helping people get back to doing the things they love is something that I never take for granted, and I’m incredibly excited to help make a difference at Aria Health and Wellness Clinic
